The MCG was first opened in 1853. The first grandstand built was the original Members stand in 1854. The MCG hosted the first Test match in 1877 and the first One Day International in 1971 as well as two Cricket World Cups in 1992 and 2015. It is the major venue for the Australian Football League (AFL), hosting over 40 AFL matches every year including the AFL Grand Final. The MCG has been the main stadium for both the 1956 Summer Olympics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The MCG had hosted many there sports including Rugby League, Rugby Union, FIFA World Cup qualifiers, concerts and other major events. The record crowd being 143000 for a Billy Graham crusade in 1959. The MCG is home to the Australian Sports Museum. The current MCG stands are the Southern Stand (1992) Ponsford Stand (2004) MCC Members Stand (2005) and Olympic Stand (2006).
